FRONTLINE
WORKERS
INITIATIVE
Scholarship Program
In September 2021, IHS Towers launched the Frontline Workers Initiative (FWLi), a philanthropic program designed to recognize and reward the outstanding contributions made during the COVID-19 pandemic by our frontline workers. Its mission is to fund life-changing education at the world’s leading colleges and universities for the most academically promising children of lower-income company workers.
"IF YOU BENEFIT THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST, YOU BENEFIT ALL."
- Sam Darwish, Chairman & CEO, IHS Towers
The FLWi provides the children of IHS Frontline Workers in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zambia — both employees and key suppliers — in the company's four lowest pay grades with the opportunity to apply for full scholarships to top level in-country and international universities.

Bennett International Education Consultancy is assisting IHS Towers in administering this scholarship program. The role of Bennett International in the FLWi will be to provide information about the program, to receive and review applications, and to select a limited number of scholarship recipients. Bennett International is committed to facilitating a process that will be clear, objective, and fair.

Ongoing mentoring support for successful applicants will be provided via the IHS Towers team.

A formal offer from a University or exam results are not required to complete the application for the Scholarship program. If formal acceptance and adequate exam results do not subsequently follow, the provisional Scholarship award shall be withdrawn.
-
Given IHS' ongoing focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the 2025-2026 application cycle will only accept applicants committing to a program in a STEM-related subject. Unfortunately, applications for non-STEM degrees cannot be considered. Click here for more information about STEM.

HOW ARE RECIPIENTS SELECTED?
This scholarship program is intended to encourage students to aspire towards the best possible education and enable access to universities that they otherwise may not have been able to consider due to financial limitations. Among the factors that will help determine the recipients of the scholarship:

-
Academic Achievement: Preference will be given to those demonstrating the strongest academic performance. Click here to view recommended exam scores.
-
University Ranking/Reputation: Preference will be given to candidates who have gained admission to eligible, competitive, accredited, and not-for-profit universities abroad, or the best universities in their home countries.
-
Program of Study: Only students who have selected a STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) program of study will be considered.
-
Geography: We seek representation from all of five African operating countries: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zambia.

Gender: While the scholarship is open to all genders, IHS Towers is committed to helping increase gender equality and expanding education opportunities for young women through the FLWi.

Scholarships may be awarded provisionally pending formal acceptance from an Eligible University. A formal offer from a university is not required to complete the application for the Scholarship program.
IF I AM SELECTED, WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT?
Applicants accepted to the Scholarship Program agree to the following Terms & Conditions. The IHS Towers FLWi Program team will support and monitor scholarship recipients to ensure that the Terms & Conditions are met throughout their university tenure. Key principles include meeting satisfactory academic standards, providing proof of regular attendance and progress reports, and complying with university rules and standards of conduct.

Note that Scholarship academic standards may exceed the minimum University standard of success, and will be discussed with the Scholarship Coordinator within the student’s first academic term.
